Every great solution starts with a real problem. Ours began in 2008 at a Chicago-area waste transfer station with a bird situation so severe that employees needed rain gear just to protect themselves from the constant bird droppings. The call for help came to our affiliate company, Stone Soap Company, and set us on an unexpected path.
We knew there had to be a better way than the old methods of spikes and nets. After months of dedicated research, we developed a revolutionary liquid formula that solved the station's bird problem effectively - and most importantly, without any harm to the birds, the environment, or the people who worked there.
That initial success was the birth of Avian Enterprises and our core mission: to provide simple, effective, and non-harmful solutions to complex bird problems.
How It Works
Avian Enterprises bird repellents work through a scientifically proven process called learned aversion. The food-grade active ingredient, Methyl Anthranilate, temporarily triggers a mild but unpleasant irritation in a bird’s taste and smell receptors. This harmless sensory experience causes birds to quickly associate discomfort with the treated area. Importantly, because the effect is temporary and non-toxic, birds never suffer harm, yet the memory of the unpleasant sensation is strong enough to encourage lasting avoidance. Over time, this natural behavioral conditioning leads birds to steer clear of the area entirely, ensuring ongoing protection without the risk of habituation or desensitization.
