Our Story

staffIn 2008, a Chicago area waste transfer station with a terrible bird problem called us at our affiliate company, Stone Soap Company, for help. The situation was so bad that employees had to wear raincoats and rain hats to protect themselves from bird droppings.

After many months of research and testing, we developed a revolutionary liquid bird repellent formula that, when sprayed or fogged, solved the bird problem. The birds were successfully driven away from the waste transfer station with no harm to the birds, the environment or the station personnel. We began to explore the potential for a repellent that would successfully repel birds without causing them harm. The formula was tested and refined and in 2009 we submitted Avian Control® to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) for registration. We received our registration in mid 2010.

Applications for US and European patents on Avian Control® Bird Repellent are currently pending.

Avian Control® Spans Many Industries

Initially, we marketed Avian Control® Bird Repellent to airports, commercial properties, landfills/solid waste transfer stations and golf courses – areas often plagued by safety and health concerns due to large numbers of geese, pigeons and other pest birds.

As Avian Control’s® reputation grew, it came to the attention of officials within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), who told us that the agricultural industry had been seeking a non-toxic, effective bird repellent for decades.

Agricultural bird damage presents a serious and continuing problem, cutting directly and deeply into crop yields, destroying or damaging up to 15% of US crops annually. Since then, more than two thousand growers of sweet and tart cherries, blueberries, sweet corn, table and wine grapes, sunflowers and many other crops have used Avian Control® to treat their fields with exceptional results. (See our testimonials page for real customer stories).

In addition to reports from our satisfied customers, numerous field trials of Avian Control® Bird Repellent by universities, agricultural trade associations and grower groups have demonstrated significant decreases in bird damage along with significantly increased crop yields with no change in the taste of crops. Growers continue to report positive results with bird damage reduced by up to 87% in some cases.
